| Caliber 30-06. Serial number 99xxx indicates that this rifle was made in 1915. Box magazine, straight grip stock. This model was manufactured between 1896 and 1931. The model 1895 was a Browning design, incorporating the first box type magazine in a lever action repeating rifle. On top of the barrel is stamped:" 30 gov't. 1906." and "nickel steel barrel especially for smokeless powder". On tang is stamped "Model 1895 Winchester". 24 inch barrel. The bore and barrel blueing are in excellent condition. Wood has minor dings, no cracks. Due to the nickel content of the reciever the bluing has worn to a patina of about 40 to 50%, no pitting. Adjustable rear sight. For a 105 year old gun this rifle is in very good condition.
